A fire door lock must fulfill two core functions:
1、Facilitate Egress During Normal Operations: Under normal conditions, it allows people to exit freely and quickly from the protected area (usually with a single action, like pushing a bar).
2、Ensure Safety During a Fire: In the event of a fire, it must reliably latch to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through the door gap, while still being immediately openable from the inside for evacuation.
Main Types of Fire Door Locks
Based on the application and function, they are primarily categorized as follows:
Fire Exit Panic Bolt / Rim Panic Device
This is the most common and standard type of fire door lock, primarily used on fire escape routes like stairwells and emergency exits.
How It Works:
.Egress from Inside: Anyone inside can simply push against the horizontal bar (the touchpad) with any part of their body, and the lock will instantly retract, allowing rapid escape. This complies with the "one-motion escape" safety principle.
.Entry from Outside: Typically requires authorized personnel to use a special key for entry from the outside.
Fire Rated Mortise Locks / Fire Door Lever Locks
These are used for rooms that require some privacy and security but must also comply with fire regulations, such as equipment rooms, utility shaft doors, or office doors leading to escape corridors.

High Compatibility: The overall dimensions of this panic bar are 31.9 x 6 x 2.6 inches (811 x 153 x 65.8 mm). It is suitable for both 30-inch to 36-inch wide wooden and metal doors and can be used on both left and right doors. Please note that it is not suitable for glass doors.
